    In Tuareg society women and men wear the veil. Wearing the indigo blue colored veil called Alasho as a facial covering originates from the belief that the veil wards off evil spirits. This is a brass metal Tuareg tribally made veil pin which was also, worn in the hair as a hair pin by the women and has a maker's mark on the back.
